Sweater Classes Offered at Sheep Street

Elizabeth Zimmerman Basic Sweater: this great class will make you comfortable with working out a swatch, fitting a sweater properly and working the all one piece garment! You can decide what type of top shaping you would like, and it's your choice of a pullover or cardigan style. A 4-session class, the cost is 445.00 plus materials. This can be either a wonderful FIRST SWEATER, or a "pattern escape" for more experienced knitters! Taught by Tim Ackerman.

Two Saturdays, 1:30 - 3:30, May 3, 24, with other classes scheduled when needed.

Design Your Own Top-Down Sweater: Who says sweaters have to be knitted from the bottom up? What if you have extra short of extra long arms? What if you are 7 feet tall? We will show you step by step how to get a great-fitting garment! This class will make you comfortable with working out a swatch, fitting the sweater properly, and working the all one-piece garment from the top down! The sweater can be tried on as you knit, so you know it fits! And, it's quick to knit! Your choice of pullover or cardigan styles. A 4-session class, the cost is $45.00. Taught by Aimee Dewar

Adult Surprise Jacket: Another Elizabeth Zimmermann design, this one really is a "surprise - it's all garter stitch, doesn't look like a sweater until the end, and its fun and easy to knit! The on-going class is FREE, but students must have or purchase the book, The Opinionated Knitter. Taught by Tim Ackerman.

This is the version for children. Every example done for adults is a bit different, depending on the yarn chosen. So come in and see a model.

 

Wednesday Evenings, 6;00 - 8:30

Lopi Sweater: You've seen the gorgeous Lopi sweater in the shop; now come in and knit your own. Donna Hilker, who knitted the sample, will take you step by step through construction, making it an easy process. The beautiful Lopi yarns come in a myriad of colors, so you need to come in and make your choice at least 2 weeks prior to class, so we can order any color not in stock. The cost is $45.00 plus materials.
